• Ramen Jazzy Beats

Modern ramen shop but not as fancy as Hachigo. Similar menu with Yutenji shop but the staff told me their specialty was 鶏ニボらぁ麺 so I got that. Dried small sardines. The soup was thick and not as refined as the Shoyu one, which I loved for it’s complex flavor profiles. If I go back I’ll definitely get the SHIO. 3/5.

  • Ramenya Toybox (ラーメン屋トイ・ボックス)

pouring rain and a cold spring sunday. arrived to 3 people in line 30minutes before 11:00 opening. non pretentious interior and slightly short tempered chef. like the interior the ramen is unpretentious and very straight forward, very well put together bowl of shoyu ramen. imho better shoyu can be had at harukiya but this is decent. 4/5.

  • The Pizza Bar On 38th

Special occasion meal. Omakase pizza at a nice pizza bar counter in the corner of a sad itallian restaurant located in the beautiful Mandarin Oriental. Each pizza is presented and then cut into pieces for each patron at the counter. 8 or 9 courses including desert. It was fun to hear the description of each pie from the passionate staff but the pizzas didn’t live up to the hype. 3.5/5.

  • Washoku Restaurant iro Nakameguro

Had the 9 course meal with friends from out of town. The turtle spring rolls was memorable, but the wagyu was the winning plate for me: beautifully prepared that tasted amazing. 4/5.

  • Vietnamese Kitchen

Finally got to eat here after around 15 failed reservation attempts. My visit came after spending almost a month in Vietnam and I’m happy to report: it’s very good. All of the food was delicious and thoughtful, using very fresh ingredients and taking the long but tasty way. The owner/chef was also cheerful and gave off great vibes. 4/5.

  • Sushi Ginza Onodera Touryumon

Wasn’t sure what to expect after seeing this place get featured on a domestic TV. Got a booking for shortly after returning home from a month of travel. We were delighted with the quality of food, attention to detail, and affordable price. I left feeling it should have cost more. The staff were very nice. 4.5/5.
